Modern Farmhouse Decor – Minimal Farmhouse Inspiration
The farmhouse-inspired homes that we swoon over these days have open, double-height ceilings, and lots and lots of natural light. Cozy fireplaces are now flanked by chic Farrow & Ball paint colors, making them the true centerpiece of a room. Adding a touch of color is the most exciting way to modernize any farmhouse look. The elegant and refined colors seen here are a stark contrast to the err, “rustic” look of yore and feel thoroughly modern and fresh.

Throughout the home, jugs, glass vases, and sculptural vessels with dried flowers are just the touch to modernize your farmhouse-style home. Run with me here: it’s time to swap out the rustic charm of the well-known farmhouse style for bohemian home decor touches. Instead of shabby-chic, it’s the relaxing addition of rattan furniture, a Morrocan rug, or baskets as planters. Warm tones and textures take center stage in this modern bohemian farmhouse look.
Embracing the Eclectic
Don’t be afraid to play and have some fun. When we think of rustic farmhouse decor, it’s whitewashed everything. Nothing—no room or centerpiece in a room—stands out with a burst of personality. Now is the time to add a bit of color in an accent pillow (like the below from The Linen Fox), or better yet, try an interesting wallpaper in a small space. There are so many exciting removable wallpapers to choose from these days, experimenting and choosing a wallpaper is not the nightmare it was a decade ago.
